The Emus farewell Nutty

The Emu Rugby Club wish to advise of the passing of former team player Malcolm Nutt on 22 Dec 2017.

Better known to many as "Nutty," he came to Gundy early 1968 as the Caltex Fuel Representative.

Already a very talented player, Nutty played in the Churchie School 1st XV for two successful years and then played his first senior Club Rugby with the GPS premiership team.

At the time of his transfer to Gundy he was spotted as as future Bank of Queensland (now Reds) State Representative player as a winger or three quarter back.

After carrying out work duties he travelled twice a week to Brisbane for training and preparation to be selected in the State team to play the interstate series as well as other Rep games.

On completion of state duties, he played the remaining few games with his newly adopted Emu Club to end the '68 season.

He was appointed Captain/Coach in 1969 and guided the Emus to their first Risdon Cup victory. His ability and inspiration was admired by everyone associated with the club.

The Goondiwindi Emus Club wish to extend their deepest sympathy to his wife Deirdre and family, and their extended families on their sad news.

RIP Nutty.
